Siden 1984 har det tyske power metal band Blind Guardian været aktive, uden pauser. De startede som Lucifer’s Heritage, og senere fik de navnet vi kender, og i 1988 udgav de deres debut album “Battalions of Fear”. Det er 20 år siden at de har været i Danmark, og derfor står de på Copenhell lige nu og er ‘på’ med stor spilleglæde.
Vikingemetal
Doomkor og andre lækkerier strømmer ud af højtalerne, og nummeret “The Ninth Wave” fra det nye album “Beyond the Red Mirror” er i gang. Det er rigtigt slager-metal, og publikum er glade i låget. Metalfesten er for alvor gået i gang.
Lyden et rimelig god, især trommerne får nogle tæsk, og giver en smældende lyd, som piskeslag. Melodierne går godt igennem, og man må give dem, at de kan lave numre der rykker live, og det er, hvad det handler om på Copenhell!
“Scream for me Copenhagen!!!”, råber forsangeren Hansi Kürsch, og folk jubler.
Det er som sejrsikre vikinger der kommer sejlende mod fjenden, med en sejerssang på læberne. Publikum er godt underholdt, og der er en hyggefadøl i hver en hånd, mens krigerne synger deres sejrssange i røvballemetallens navn. Dedikeret til at underholde, er de rimelig varme og klar til at underholde. Hæ, det er sgu en fed nok humørpille, lige til at komme op på metaldupperne.
Underholdende, men…
..men der er absolut intet nyt, hverken i musikalsk stil eller performance, men det er fedt, at der nogen der har kærlighed til godt håndværk i den gamle skoles navn.
Det fortsætter med røvballeriffs og høje skrig….hmm, det er som om intensiteten falder..den burde stige, men allerede efter 4-5 numre, begynder det at blive lidt ensformigt.
Jeg var rimelig glad da Blind Guarian startede, men de stod meget stille i deres musikalske udtryk, og de bedste numre var desværre til dels opstarten. Det var ok underholdning, men bestemt ikke mere end det.
Metalvikingerne lavede en god opstart på Hades-scenen på Copenhell
