Fra Skotland fik publikum en hæsblæsende portion to-the-point hardrock leveret af Gill Montgomery, vokal/guitar, Heather McKay, bas/kor og Hannah McKay, trommer/kor.
Selveste Geoff Barton fra Classic rock kaldte deres debut “Haulin’ Ass” for “Three minute stun gun bursts full of humour and hellion fury.”
Den skotske trio er særdeles aktive, udover at have lavet 3 album og to EP’er turnerer de flittigt og har også en del festivaler Linet op i år, ikke mindst Nordic Noise.
Power fra start
Og der er godt knald på fra starten, da Hannah McKay med en trommesolo sætter åbningsnummeret igang. I et hæsblæsende tempo får de hurtigt sat ild til publikum som efter et split sekund står tætpakket foran trioen.
Sikre breaks med hængende riffs og i det hele taget state of the hard-rock fra ende til anden.
Der er lidt knas med korets stemmer men Gill Montgomery på sang og guitar skærer til gengæld også igennem og står bestemt ikke tilbage for Lita Ford eller Doro. Koret bliver tydeligere hen ad vejen.
En god hårdag
Igen, der er mange bands i dag som skylder meget til hairspray bandsene som tidligere var uglesete. I dag synes det at være en af de foretrukne epoker, når man som band skal gribe efter inspiration. Og AC/DC har bestemt heller ikke levet forgæves. Jeg tænker, at Angus med fordel kunne tjekke bandet ud, næste gang han drager på turne med sit derangerede aussie-cirkus og mangler et… band.
Trioen spiller på alle virkemidler og har alle attituder og gestikulationer på plads, såsom næver i vejret og call-response passager med trommebeat kørende. Og Gill har virkelig sans for stilrene lækre guitarsoloer, uden at det tager overhånd (en af fordelene ved at guitaristen har sangtjansen). Og bassisten må utvivlsomt være faldet i Steve Harris’ bas som spæd og det er der altså kommer en potent og aggressiv bassist ud af. Til gengæld er der ikke så meget dybde og originalitet rent sangskrivningsmæssigt. Og det er jo det, det (også) handler om.
Lasses powerappearance
Lidt variation kommer, da Lasse Lucer fra en anden trio, danske Lucer, går på scenen som gæste rockstar. Han brøler sig igennem sin gæstevisit som en Iggy Pop trold op af æske. Han brænder klart igennem med The Amorettes som tight backing band og jeg synes godt han måtte have stået der en sang mere.
Lidt for lang ekstratur
Gill får sagt “mange tak” på dansk og annonceret, at bandet om lidt står i merch inden de skal drikke øl. Det vækker stor begejstring og her i slutfasen har bandet fået folk med på råb og næver i vejret. Det kan måske være at trioen har andre elementer at spille på som band end de andre bands til weekendens festival – elementer som formår at skabe en ret stor crowd – men det bliver efterhånden som en af de der dage i Tivoli, hvor man i rutchebanen råber på ekstratur, får den, men må sande, at den bliver et par runder for lang.
